SMALL MOMENTS REVEAL THE BIG TRUTHS

You got to watch out…

Life has a strange way of revealing truths, about people mostly. Usually, the ones you always loved, with all your heart, with all your sincerity. About people whom you considered your near and dear ones. Life doesn’t need some big events, enormous turn arounds or shocking accidents to open our eyes. Most of the time, it is small moments.

Like, my first 3D sketch. My first published and recognized article.  My first accepted and published article on Medium. My 6-year-old son when he scored his first football goal, back when he was only 4 years old. My 5-year-old son’s first academic milestone in school, was when he secured 1st position in a story-telling competition. My enrolment in a master’s program after 8 years of study break. I got to know some realities with these moments, these milestones that seemed little but revealed big truths about people I considered beloved.

So, watch out who claps for you when it is your time to celebrate. Look and observe, who truly cares for you, supports you and stands for you/with you when you actually need it. Look out for people who are there to appreciate your every little step up the ladder.

Watch out who stays silent on all this, envious, just grinding their teeth with shrinking eyes. Also, observe those who see it all, listen to it all, know it all, and yet choose to ignore you and avoid you. As if you don’t exist at all. There are some people in our lives who we value more than we should, people who are very good with words. But that is it. Just empty words.

They disappear as soon as they see you being happy, being successful, celebrating something. They come to you only when it fits them. They are nowhere when you THINK you need them the most.

It is when I came to know once again, where my time, energy, and efforts should be directed. Gladly, I learned to cherish people who cherish my existence.

Life has a way of telling you to value the people that you have. And life taught me that it is better to let some things and people go. There is no point in holding on to what is not yours. Or who is not yours. There is a reason they are no longer in my life. And I am finally content with it.

So, look around. “Are you watching closely?”
