Students in Pakistan Are Not Studying for Knowledge They Are Studying for Survival

In Pakistan studying does not feel like just learning anymore. For most students it feels like pressure and responsibility that they cannot avoid. From school to university everyone is chasing marks degrees and a good job not because they want to but because they have to.

The truth is many students do not study because they are interested. They study because they are scared. They are scared of failing scared of wasting time and mostly scared of not getting a good job in the future. In Pakistan the situation is not easy. Jobs are limited and prices are going up so students feel they have no other option.

Even if a student gets good marks there is still pressure to do more courses learn extra skills do internships or coaching classes. It feels like you are always behind no matter how much you try. This creates stress especially for university students who are already handling studies family expectations and future planning at the same time.

Another big problem in Pakistan is the job situation after graduation. When students are doing their degree they are told to do internships and get experience. But after completing a bachelor’s degree when they go for jobs most companies say they need experience. This becomes confusing for fresh graduates because they are just starting their career but jobs are not ready to give them a chance. So many students end up stuck with no proper job even after studying for years.

Society pressure also makes things harder. Many families still want their children to become doctors engineers or something they consider respectable even if the student is not interested in that field. Because of this many students study subjects they do not enjoy.

At the same time students in Pakistan are not lazy. Most of them work very hard. Many students are learning freelancing IT skills or doing part time jobs along with studies just to secure their future. But the mental pressure is still there all the time.

Education should be about learning understanding and improving yourself. But here it often feels like it is only about surviving in a difficult system.

In the end students in Pakistan are not only studying to gain knowledge they are studying because they feel they must survive in the future. And this changes the whole meaning of education.
