Changing the Narrative: ACP Sholla Omilade Leads Humanitarian Policing in Lagos State

In a remarkable demonstration of compassion, love, unity and service, the Lagos State Police Command, aptly guided under the leadership of the set-man, The Commissioner of Police Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has extended a hand of love to the less privileged during this season of love. The initiative was meticulously spearheaded by ACP Sholla Omilade, The Commander of Area H Ogudu, by showcasing the human side of policing while emphasizing that the art of law enforcement is not just about crime prevention, but also about building trust, giving back, and spreading hope within the community.

Speaking passionately about the initiative, ACP Sholla Omilade shared:

“This is a personal initiative to reach out to the less privileged and give back to society, showing them that the police are truly their friends not just by words, but by actions. Society should not give up on us. I am fully set out to redeem the dented image of the police in my own little way by exhibiting my passion for community policing which the IGP Kayode Egbetokun promotes. I carry out my policing duties with passion. We the Nigerian Police are prepared to fight crime and criminality under any guise in Area H and Lagos State in general. We are friends to society, we certainly are not friends to criminals within the same society. I wish all a Merry Christmas on behalf of all the DPOs, officers, and men of Area H Police Command, Ogudu.”

In addition to spearheading the initiative, ACP Sholla Omilade commended the dedication and teamwork of her officers, stating that their contributions were instrumental to the success of the outreach by collectively donating essential food items and gifts to the orphanage homes. This indeed has demonstrated solidarity, compassion, and a commitment to community service beyond the call of duty.

The humanitarian outreach visited The Heritage Home in Anthony Village, coordinated by Mosopefoluwa Yakno, and Echo of Mercy and Hope Foundation in Maryland, coordinated by Deaconess Funmi Adedokun. Through these visits, ACP Sholla Omilade and her team personally engaged with the children and staff, by bringing not just material support, but also encouragement, smiles, and a tangible message of hope and love.

This initiative reflects the Lagos State Police Command’s ongoing commitment to community policing and to fostering a positive relationship between law enforcement agencies and the public. By combining leadership, teamwork, and genuine compassion, ACP Sholla Omilade and the officers of Area H are actively changing the narrative around policing in Lagos and Nigeria at large, steadily proving that the badge represents not only authority, but also humanity, service, and care.

Through this season of love, this act serves as a shining example of how policing can be both firm against crime and nurturing to the community, ensuring that the spirit of giving and humanity reaches those who need it most
